annakovsky: (community: oh christmas troy)
God, this is so late, but for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide I wrote Cat's Cradle (Cat/Gwendolen, rated maybe PG, 3871 words), for Diana Wynne Jones's Chrestomanci series, by the way. Because nothing says happy holidays like creepy incest, haha.

I usually do that year in fic meme, but this year, while I wrote many, many words, I did not write a wide variety of stories. So I guess this won't take long; more for my own reference than anything. (Previous versions: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008.)

Oh, 2009 )

I can't believe we're already two weeks into 2010.
annakovsky: (btvs: i don't sleep on a bed of bones)
A couple quick things:

[livejournal.com profile] topazera made a fanmix for Les Cousins Dangereux, the Dawn/Connor Jossverse sort-of-incest fic (haha, hoo boy) I wrote way back when, which was just super, super cool of her. It's a really awesome mix with some great songs and fanart, so you should definitely check it out! Mix is here, fic it's based on is here.

Thanksgiving's over, which means my playlist has turned to Christmas songs, heavy on Sufjan Steven's Christmas albums, as that is the wretch I am. (Also, number of versions of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" on said playlist: five.) Here are some of the songs I'm hitting the hardest right now:

Christmas In The Room by Sufjan
Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming by Feist
The Friendly Beasts by Sufjan

Annnnd just so this post has a little more to it, I'll do that fic meme that was going around, if anyone wants to play:

Pick a paragraph (or any passage less than 500 words) from any fanfic I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.

My fic is here.
annakovsky: (rliv: hot hot hot)
I am actually having an awesome time in Kentucky lately, you guys, it's weird. I keep going out with people I used to know and being shocked at how much I'm enjoying myself. So that's cool? I'm glad I didn't make a huge mistake in moving back? Also [livejournal.com profile] moireach is fiiiiinally back in range where we can talk on the phone, THANK GOD. Those were dark days in my life for awhile there.

Fannish stuff! Bones continues to own my soul, you guys. Seriously? )

Moving on. Let's talk about Ron Livingston for a moment. RLiv and how he may or may not be gay and how I want him and DLew to hit it, ugh, I don't even know, this whole entry, you guys, I say a lot of things )

Haha, okay, I need to cool it. In actual non-crazy RLiv news, his new show Defying Gravity (described by ABC as, and I am not making this up, "Grey's Anatomy in Outer Space" HAHA) comes out on August 2, and oh my God, you guys. Oh my God. Nothing about this show will not be amazing. Here is an early review along with four clips from the pilot. 1) RLiv looks smoking hot in those clips. Like, smoking, smoking, blisteringly hot. (Ugh, I don't understand how I did not find him attractive in Office Space 10 years ago, compared to how I find him now. Like, what kind of magical powers does BoB have???) 2) He hits on a lot of ladies. 3) He's clearly the McDreamy of the space station. 4) HAHA REMEMBER THAT TIME IT WAS DESCRIBED AS GREY'S ANATOMY IN SPACE? 5) ABC's actual promo text on this includes the paragraph, "Four women and four men hurtle through space with nothing to do for six years and eight billion miles, except maybe solve a powerful and awesome mystery. Maybe, just maybe, some of them will even hook up. How cool is that?" 6) HAHA HOW COOL IS THAT, YOU GUYS?

Ahahahaha, basically there is nothing about this show that isn't going to be pure gold, and I plan on enjoying the HELL out of it. The only bummer of it is that I'm going to my family's place in Canada starting Thursday, for two weeks, which means no TV or internet, which means, auuuuuuuuuuuugh. I WANT TO WATCH RON IN SPAAAAAACE. :( :(

Uh, anyway, this also serves as your notice that I will be out of touch except for possibly text messaging for the next couple weeks. This is going to be hell on my tumblarity. Haha. Don't burn down the internet while I'm gone or anything.

And to finish this mass of crazy off, that WIP meme! One sentence from everything I'm "working" on, though haha, that ranges from stuff that'll probably be posted this week to stuff that is over a year old and definitely never seeing the light of day.

I don't understand what I spend my time on. )
annakovsky: (life: because i shot my father)
So I probably shouldn't do this when I have like 30 tabs of fic open to read already, but [livejournal.com profile] marguerite_26 did it earlier and it actually sounded like a pretty fun idea. So here it is:

Rec me ANYTHING and I will read it. Any pairing, any fandom, any whatever -- I'll read the first ten recs I get. My only stipulation is that the fics be under 15,000 words. (Oh, and self-pimping doesn't count, obvs.) Otherwise, I like everything well-written, so if you have an awesome fic you think everyone should read, or a small fandom, or whatever, go nuts!

ETA: The positions have been filled! Thanks, awesome people.
annakovsky: (bbt: I ship it)
Hey, look, it's January 1! That is my signal to tell you that I wrote The Failure of Einstein's Universe for [livejournal.com profile] kyrafic in [livejournal.com profile] yuletide, which is in The Big Bang Theory fandom, and is Sheldon/Penny. Because you guys, 1600 people signed up for yuletide and I got assigned to write for MY OWN BEST FRIEND, ROOMMATE, AND ONSITE FIC CONSULTANT. Hahaha, wtf, wtf. Apparently it is also very hard to keep that a secret when you're averse to actively lying and so she knew it was me upon reading the first sentence. OH WELL, haha. At least I could tailor it to her specific likes and dislikes? Anyway, it was fun to write and came way easier than any other year of yuletide, so that's something.

And this is the fourth year I'm doing the year-in-fic meme! (Previous versions: 2005, 2006, 2007.)

2008's fic )
annakovsky: (mash: let's be hemingway when we grow up)
I'm reading The Stand, by Stephen King, for the first time ever -- which I know is ridiculous for someone who likes apocalypses as much as I do, but I don't know, it looked long and boring and I'm not really a King fan so I was always like, whatever, but then I picked it up to read on the plane going home for Thanksgiving, and holy crap, you guys, IT IS SO GOOD. I'm not even finished yet, but I love how it completely settles in and takes its time and how it's completely riveting even though there's like 5000 characters and it keeps skipping around between them. Though I had a pretty bad cold when I started reading it, which was NOT AWESOME for the beginning, haha.

And I usually don't do these things, but what the hell, I've had a rough... like, fall. Haha. My thread in the anonymous holiday love meme
annakovsky: (dan in real life)
The Yuletide authors have been announced, and I wrote The Ascent, in The Dark Is Rising fandom. I'm reasonably happy with how it turned out, and it was fun to get to write in that fandom, since I've loved those books since I was a tiny child.

For the third year running, I'm doing the my-year-in-fic meme. (Previous versions: 2005, 2006) The questions are cobbled together from a lot of different people I've seen doing this meme.

The fic by fandom )

That's 10 stories in 7 fandoms, totalling about 42,000 words. Of those, 6 were written for [livejournal.com profile] nothing_hip, 1 for [livejournal.com profile] warning_labels and 1 for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide. 42,000 words is the least amount I've ever written in a year, which annoys me, though I guess I do have a couple of long things that are still in progress (the Mosepocalypse, a Jim/Roy). I don't know. It was a busy year, and I was tired for most of it.

The meme )
annakovsky: (dinello: you amuse me)
I'm avoiding stuff I have to do, and so chose to do that meme that's going around. In my defense, I wasn't aware of how wretched the questions were going to be before I started it, ha.

Pick 12 characters you like, and then answer the questions below the cut about them. Obviously first choose your characters before you see the questions.

1. Frank Pembleton - Homicide: Life on the Street
2. Hermione Granger - Harry Potter
3. Xander Harris - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
4. Liz Lemon - 30 Rock
5. Stephen Colbert - Daily Show RPF
6. Maeby Funke - Arrested Development
7. Hawkeye Pierce - M*A*S*H
8. Pam Beesly - The Office
9. Frank - Little Miss Sunshine
10. Willow Rosenberg - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
11. Toby Flenderson - The Office
12. Dana Scully - The X-Files

the questions )
annakovsky: (Default)
The reveal has happened! For [livejournal.com profile] yuletide I wrote The Beams of Our Houses Are Cedars, which is Big Love and is like 7 pairings of just about every character (Ben/Margie, Margie/Barb, Barb/Nicki, Nicki/Roman, Roman/Rhonda, Rhonda/Sarah, Sarah/Heather). Good times.

Happy 2007, everybody! As always, it's time for the my-year-in-fic meme, this time gacked from [livejournal.com profile] likethesun2.

The other stuff I wrote this year )

In conclusion, check out my new pretentious icon! (In Greek, it says, "I'm in the city, killing the men." Memes: funnier in ancient Greek?)

MEME

Sep. 2nd, 2006 11:59 pm
annakovsky: (rt: hey beautiful)
I've been moving alllllll week long, but now we're finally in our awesome new place, and I officially live with [livejournal.com profile] moireach, and I'm sure I have things to say about that at some point (and maybe... pictures? Who knows), but today is not that day, since my schedule right now is 1) collapse, 2) stay that way. BUT I am really enjoying the Five Things meme that's going around, SO. Give me prompts to think about while I'm unpacking and organizing tomorrow! (For instance, written by [livejournal.com profile] iamsab, Five People At Dunder-Mifflin Who Might Have What It Takes To Survive In A Day After Tomorrow Type Scenario, According To Dwight Schrute, or Top Five Times J.D. Wished He Were a Girl.) Fandoms that are fair game include: The Office (US or UK), Buffy, Law & Order: SVU, Veronica Mars, Grey's Anatomy, Arrested Development, The X-Files, Scrubs, M*A*S*H, The Royal Tenenbaums, the Babysitters Club, Homicide: Life on the Street - or pretty much anything else I've written or talked about or whatever. Uh, those fandoms will probably result in fic of varying quality, but hey.

I'm coming late to this one, but here is 2005, my fic in review.
