And everybody thinks he's a tease.
I have been ridiculously busy lately, BUT I have a few drive-by things!
I had an excellent birthday, made even more excellent by
kyrafic writing me my hardly-ever-written OT3, Stephen Colbert/Amy Sedaris/Paul Dinello - Farmers and Ghosts (Strangers with Candy RPF). It is SO GOOD YOU GUYS. Friendship fic that makes me so so so happy - their whole ridiculously long friendship, and Second City, and uh, I kind of love to an embarrassing degree, like, more than anything ever written. GO READ IT.
(Also, before that she wrote Shawn/Gus Psych fic, Nine True Facts About Gus and Shawn, Detectives/Boyfriends, that IS GRATE.)
I keep wanting to make an actual post about teevee, but I have 30 things I have to do right this second, SO INSTEAD. Two sentences about each of my shows:
How I Met Your Mother: OH MY GOD SLAP BET CONTINUITY! I have hardly ever been so delighted in all my days.
SVU: I don't even know why I bother anymore, but the low quality is pretty hilarious? I haven't even watched this week's episode yet.
The Office: You know, in the second season, the Jim/Pam relationship was like 90% delight, 10% bone-crushing sadness, but this season that ratio has completely inverted to 90% bone-crushing sadness and 10% delight, and I AM FINDING IT VERY OPPRESSIVE. At this point I really just want the two of them to get over it, stop being such a train wreck, be happy dating other people, GET THEMSELVES TOGETHER FOR GOD'S SAKE, and maybe later finally hook up when they have become people of courage (ESPECIALLY YOU, JIM HALPERT, YOU ARE THIS CLOSE TO BEING DEAD TO ME), and in the meantime I think the show should just let me watch everybody else, who are still 90% delight, so that I don't have to slit my wrists or something.
(Haha, longest two sentences ever? What I'm trying to say is, I will never be able to rewatch "Phyllis's Wedding", eva, and I'm still mad at the whole office for not KEEPING MICHAEL FROM EMBARRASSING HIMSELF. He's too young to know better, you guys! He needs someone to keep him settled!)
The Colbert Report: Oh man, lately Stephen has seemed so HAPPY - he breaks all the time and him being happy makes ME happy in a way that is possibly not entirely healthy. ALSO, how cute is it that every time Steve Carell is up for an award or something, Stephen does a bit on it? (Carell/Colbert - THE REAL OTP OF THE PIECE?) (Parentheticals don't count as my two sentences.)
Speaking of Colbert, here is my favorite picture ever taken in the history of time:

OKAY, I HAVE TO GO, FOR REALSIES.

Also, thank you for reminding me about HIMYM's existence. *goes to download*

HIMYM was SO GOOD this week omg.

I really, REALLY need to watch SWC, because I've been watching Amy interviews for the last day and she is one of those women that make me rethink my sexuality. My God.
Steve/Stephen is a beautiful thing as well. In my spare moments I am writing Mr. Fox / Mr. Goose crackfic because I amuse myself. I am a sad, sad human being.

Dude, Amy is AMAZING. She's just so charmingly random and weird. Seriously, I only started reading about her and Paul 'cause I liked Stephen so much, and then I kind of ended up as much a fan of her and Paul as Colbert. THANKS FOR BEING SO AWESOME, GUYS. (And you should totally check out SWC, though it is weird and def. not a show everyone loves.)
MR. FOX/MR GOOSE?? I AM SO EXCITED TO HEAR THIS.

Seriously, lately he has been completely unable to get through a show without breaking, it is a DELIGHT.
Hee, this week's HIMYM was most excellent. Three to go!

I knoooooooooow! I live for when he breaks, which means I have been really living, lately. I really want to know what's happened to make him so cheery!
I couldn't BELIEVE that they actually did the slap bet continuity! SO AWESOME. So many great things in that episode, too - the look on Barney's face when Ted and Robin were moving in together (Because he loves Ted, or because he loves Robin? OR BOTH), etc, etc.

I really really enjoy how every single thing about this comment of yours is proof of how you have been corrupted by us.

SLAP BET FTW.

SIRIUSLY. You know, Marshall must've been sitting there thinking about slapping him for AWHILE. THREE MORE SLAPS TO GO. They could stretch those out over YEARS.

Also, agreed about The Office. It's still really good, but oh my god, THE ANGST!

Totally, The Office has remained super high quality and awesome, but I cannot even DEAL with the train wreck that is Jim/Pam. PLIS STOP YOU GUYS.

Omg, that toss with the Walter Cronkite thing was AMAZING. SO MUCH JOY. And after that, he couldn't keep it together for, like, the whole rest of his show. Whenever Jon starts laughing, he's gone.

Jim -- (points at salt shaker) "Could you pass the -"
Pam -- (in a tone that could be confused or could be annoyed) - "I'm sorry, what?"
Jim -- (drawing his hand back slowly, uncertain) - "Uh. Nothing. Nevermind." (continues choking down
bland eggs)
AAAAUUUUUUGH.
Pam should be with Michael and Jim should be with Dwight. Or Michael. Pam and Jim should *share* Michael. Pam and Jim and Michael should have a threesome? I don't know. But Michael and Dwight push Jim and Pam into being blunt and honest and human.
no subject
Hee, do you really think Pam/Michael could work in the longterm? I mean, I know they're going to have a kid together in 30 years, but even so.
WRITE PAM/MICHAEL/JIM, I DARE YOU.

On the plus side:
1. That picture. !!
2. I just listened to This American Life from Valentine's Day week, and there was a teenage crush story involving internet flamewars, cutting, lesbians, and Evanescence lyrics, and I haven't stopped laughing for ten minutes now.

Isn't that picture amazing? MY HEART.
I haven't listened to the TAL from Valentine's Day yet! I will totally look forward to that! Haha. Right now my journal subtitle is "Cutting made me forget my eating disorder," which was AN ACTUAL UNIRONIC HEADLINE in Jane Magazine, and which I find inappropriately hilarious.
procrastinating? what?

You wrote Stephen/Steve?? I thought you didn't do RPF! Where can I find this??

Also, um, that GIANT MONSTER SLAP was the greatest thing on TV this week. Everybody's shocked and Marshall's all "That's two."
no subject
Omg, wasn't that slap AMAZING?? Seriously, I didn't know that show did continuity like that! FANTASTIC.
