look to the pasta ([personal profile] annakovsky) wrote2009-05-03 08:17 pm

I have three weeks worth of items, here.

1) Every spring I get excited when it's finally warm enough to have the windows open... and then every spring I remember why every fall I'm psyched when we get to shut the windows, because suddenly I can hear everything that's going on in the whole neighborhood. Dear lady who every night at 10 pm for the past three years has called, "Kitty! Kitty!" for fifteen minutes... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NAME YOUR CAT.

Anyway, the house next door is only about five feet away from my bedroom window, so I almost always have the blinds closed in there. But last weekend it was really hot, so on Saturday night around 1, I was in my room reading with the light on, but I had my window open to get a breeze, and the blinds up so as not to inhibit the breeze. From where the head of my bed is, I couldn't see anything out the window, but it was open. Aaaaaand then I hear this dude moaning, and this lady shushing him.

Yeah, the couple next door was having sex, and shushing each other because it must have been very apparent that MY OPEN WINDOW WAS RIGHT THERE AND I COULD HEAR EVERYTHING. I mean, on the one hand, I appreciate the shushing because I didn't want to hear that, but on the other hand, them being totally AWARE I WAS THERE was almost creepier. Basically, this was my face:

2) We don't have furniture in our living room anymore. The couch went back out the window from whence it came (we videotaped it going out the window this time, so a post about that will be forthcoming -- stay sharp, internet). So basically for the next month before we both move, being in the living room is like CAMPING. By which I mean really uncomfortable -- we put a futon mattress on the floor, it's pretty hilarious.

Anyway. So all that to say that this morning when my roommate and her boyfriend walked in, I was sitting on a futon on the floor in the middle of the living room crosslegged in my pajamas, eating cereal out of a bowl and watching the Disney channel, as you do... when you're eight.

Jonas -- Man, so I knew I would thoroughly enjoy this show, but I enjoyed it even more than I was anticipating. There were a ton of genuinely hilarious lines, Kevin is AMAZING, and it's so META. "He looks exactly like Nick... but he's SMILING." "Check the fan magazines, I'm the serious one." Making fun of Kevin's boots, and Nick wearing a I Love Sports t-shirt and Joe taking pictures of himself, and Kevin and Joe palling around all over the place! Frankie! Basically it's like they filmed some satirical RPF, is all I'm saying, only with less incest.

Also, both Stella and their fake dad are AWESOME. Also, is it just me or is Kevin super hot in that part in the credits when they cut to him singing and he does that little eyebrow raise? Just saying.

Also, at the end of the first episode, my roommate's boyfriend, after having laughed hysterically at "VASE CLUB," said, "So... am I allowed to genuinely like this show?" JUST SAYING. EVEN CIVILIANS WHO ARE PROBABLY NOT ATTRACTED TO NICK JONAS LIKE IT. My roommate suggested that we go off and co-mod a community together.

3) Speaking of the Jonas Brothers, if you want an awesome introduction, you need to check these out:

JNS 101: Introduction to Jonases by [livejournal.com profile] irishmizzy
JNS 102: Modern Jonas History by [livejournal.com profile] agate
JNS 201: Jonas Music Theory by [livejournal.com profile] miss_bennie
JNS 315: Jonas Sexual Development by [livejournal.com profile] mozarts_friend

4) Apparently I'm also going to do all my super old, super out-dated TV catch-up now. God, why do I never post anymore?

5) Life: YOU GUYS THAT FINALE GAVE ME A LOT OF FEELINGS. I mean, the Crews/Reese felt a little bit like it came out of nowhere in the last couple of episodes, but I don't even care. Seriously, I have never had so many feelings about hands brushing. (How he kind of twitches his fingers afterwards!) And the whole ending was just like the most beautiful thing. I had feelings for days. I still keep listening to that goddamn song that played over it.

Also, Charlie THROAT PUNCHED ROMAN TO DEATH. AUGH. Haha, basically all I want from that show is 1) Charlie being sad over prison, 2) Charlie being terrifyingly badass, 3) sexy shipping, 4) pretty, pretty musical sequences. So the finale was PRET-TY AWESOME. I feel like I want to do a rewatch of all of season 2.

Anyway, I'm going to be so bummed if/when it really gets canceled, but if it does, that was a pretty awesome place to end it. Augh.

Also, this picture of Damian Lewis and Sarah Shahi is maybe my favorite thing I've ever seen:

6) The Office: THE MICHAEL SCOTT PAPER COMPANY IS THE BEST THING THAT'S EVER HAPPENED TO HUMANITY, END OF STORY. All of you who claim you're writing Pam/Ryan really better get on it, is all. God. Talk about having a lot of feelings. I love how both Pam and Ryan totally PARTICIPATED in all of Michael's nonsense. The morning cheer!

And even Halpert was pretty okay when he was saving the day and stuff. Also, Dwight/Andy y/y/y/y/y? Also Michael/Pam y/y/y/y/y/y/y?

7) I really like this Winters/Nixon Band of Brothers vid by [livejournal.com profile] kaydeefalls

8) Theories About Nuclear Winters is a Calvin/Susie Calvin & Hobbes fic that is so good it made me cry.

9) [livejournal.com profile] moireach introduced me to a drink that consists of creme de cacao, milk, and seltzer, and NO LIE, you guys, it is the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. Every time I drink it IT IS BETTER THAN I REMEMBERED IT BEING, and I overhype it EVEN TO MYSELF. Also, it was invented for oilmen in the old west or something, so even though it tastes like a fizzy chocolate soda, it is actually BADASS. Smith and Curran: you will have no regrets.

[identity profile] londondrowning.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
THAT PICTURE THAT PICTURE. Mr. Winters and Ms. Reese at the prom, y/n?

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
AHH AND I THOUGHT THERE WAS NO WAY I COULD HAVE MORE FEELINGS ABOUT THAT PICTURE.

[identity profile] londondrowning.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, also, I sympathize with you about loud sex having neighbors. Sometimes when my upstairs neighbors get really out of hand, I take my Swiffer and bang it against the ceiling really hard, just to remind them that I can, actually, hear every terrible thing they are saying. Just in case they don't actually want to be overheard.

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha, it seriously was like we were all in the same room together, and now when I see them on their balcony next door to us, I FEEL SUPER AWKWARD.

Seriously, if Life ends I'll cry forever. IT'S JUST A GOOD SHOW. STUPID NBC AND JAY LENO.

No lie, I maybe sort of had deliberately low expectations for JONAS, but it was really good! I am seriously kind of blown away, and wow, is it just me, or does Kevin have really good comedic timing? Also, Nick--I do not think you should be able to give those sort of looks when you are still underage.

Ack, Life is breaking my heart so bad, because I know there is pretty much no chance of it being renewed, and the finale did give such great closure, but then I see pictures like that and I fall in love all over again. ACK.

And um, hi, I am TOTALLY going to second that thought about that pic being Dick Winters and Dani Reese at the prom, okay? That is now canon.

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Heee, I was sort of ready to be a little embarrassed for Nick and his acting too, but it really was good! Legitimately funny! Good job, guys! Kevin seriously was the best one -- VERY GOOD, KEV.

Ugh, I knooooow, I'm going to be so bummed without Life. :( :(

AUGH. Dani Reese teaches gym at Waverly? SO MANY FEELINGS.

HOW IS EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT FRANKIE BECAUSE HE WASN'T IN THE EPISODE I SAW?

WHERE IS THIS LEAKED EPISODE?

I TRULY FEEL LIKE MY LIFE IS NOT COMPLETE RIGHT NOW?

I also feel like that my capital letters may imply some sort of, like, unhappiness or melancholy but I ASSURE THIS IS NOT THE CASE BECAUSE THAT ONE EPISODE IS EVERYTHING I COULD'VE WANTED EVER AND MORE. AHHH EVERYONE'S FACES!

(also: yeahhhhh, life! \o/ that picture of the two them and the placement of his hand and ugh ugh ugh)

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
EPISODE TWO -- the rest of the parts should be linked in the sidebar there too! IT IS SO GOOD. THERE ARE HOME MOVIES. AND FRANKLIN NATHANIEL JONAS.

Man, wasn't it so good? I couldn't even DEAL.

And augh, THAT PICTURE. THE WAY HE'S LOOKING AT HER. HOW TALL HE IS. THE LEANING. HIS HAND.

[identity profile] ciachick711.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Why won't NBC move Life to USA? Whhhhhhyyyyy?

That picture is GORGEOUS.

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh, THEY REALLY SHOULD.

Isn't it? I've been staring at it ALL WEEKEND.

[identity profile] irishmizzy.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
I can't get over how awesome the JONAS characterizations are. FRANKIE IS OFTEN HUNGRY. Hahahahahahaha, AMAZING. It's like a dream come true. Whoever is responsible for that needs to marry me AT ONCE. Whoever is responsible for ANY OF IT, really. I will marry the caterer.

God, that picture and how his hand is so much bigger than hers, homg, this is a lot of unexpected feelings and maybe I feel the need to catch up on Life stat.

RYAN/PAAAAAAAM. THE MPSC. ADLKFJLJ. Remember that time Ryan and Pam had a joint talking head and my heart stopped for a minute? I LOVE YOU, SHOW, I HONESTLY DO.

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
SERIOUSLY, FRANKIE MIGHT AS WELL AS HAVE EATEN EIGHT TUBES OF GOGURT ON SCREEN. I laughed so hard when he walked in with that ice cream cone, I can't even. Seriously, AMAZING.

Omg, right, his hand?? YOU DO NEED TO WATCH LIFE IMMEDIATELY. Haha, group watch? It's almost summer?

God, I still can't believe the joint talking head happened. IT'S BASICALLY LIKE THEY HAD SEX ONSCREEN.

[identity profile] agate.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Dear lady who every night at 10 pm for the past three years has called, "Kitty! Kitty!" for fifteen minutes... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NAME YOUR CAT.

Hahahahaha, that made me lol.

JONAAAAAAAS. It's seriously been all I can think about/watch/do for the past 36 hours or so. I want to marry Kevin Jonas's comedic timing. I don't know, I was obvs. expecting to love it totally disproportionately, and then it was even better than I had dreamed. SERIOUSLY, HOME MOVIES?? WELL-PLAYED, SHOW. Basically I want to hug everyone associated with it and creepily hold on to Nick too long.

IN OTHER NEWS I DON'T THINK I'LL EVER GET TIRED OF STARING AT THAT PICTURE.

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahahahahahaha, I say it constantly. WHY DOES THE CAT HAVE NO NAME? ALSO PUT IT ON A LEASH OR SOMETHING, GOD.

It's just a really good show! Haha, that review that said Kevin was the best part of it wasn't lying, is all. And I cannot even believe they had home movies. AMAZING. And haha, Nick's dubcon hug, AWESOME.

I HAVE HAD THAT PICTURE OPEN IN A TAB FOR AN EMBARRASSING AMOUNT OF TIME.

[identity profile] mozarts-friend.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha I had other things to say, but now the only thought in my head is: MR. WINTERS AND MS. REESE AT PROM. YUP.

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
I KNOW, RIGHT? IT IS KIND OF ALL I CAN THINK ABOUT. She coaches the Waverly soccer team. After the Easy v. Waverly soccer game, he takes her out for dinner to congratulate her on the girls' win. WHEN SHE ASKS HIM IF IT'S A DATE HE STARTS BLUSHING.

So, regarding that picture, I, uh...I made a noise. It was joyful, but also sad, as if the world should have sensed when this photoshoot was taking place because white doves flew over every major city in the world or something.

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
RIGHT??? How is it even possible for such a perfect picture to exist? I went to a site with EMBEDDED MIDIS on ANGELFIRE to get a better quality copy, and I have no regrets.

I am enthralled by The Jonas University Lecture Series. THAT PICTURE: Reese and Crews hiding away at Ted's wedding?

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
It's a good series, is all!

AHHHH AT TED'S WEDDING. God, I need so much more Crews/Reese than currently exists. Stupid small fandoms.

THAT PICTURE OMG. thank you for bringing that into my life!!

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
RIGHT? I CAN'T STOP LOOKING AT IT.

[identity profile] smilesawakeyou.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
OMG EVERYONE HAS BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS JONAS SHOW AND I MIGHT JUST BE BREAKING TO THE POINT OF WATCHING IT. Being horribly bored might be a factor. GOD, MY CYNICISM ABOUT DISNEY IS BEING CHIPPED AWAY.

Also, Calvin and Hobbes fic always breaks my heart. It tends to be kind of awesome.

Oh, and that couch story made me rofl. My roommate asked what the hell was so funny. So thanks for that.

OH: and Dwight/Andy alllll the way. It makes my heart happy.

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
YOU SHOULD CHECK IT OUT. It's honestly a very enjoyable show and they are some goodlooking boys! Just saying!!

Man, this Calvin and Hobbes fic put me in this weird dreamy melancholy longing mood for, like, DAYS. Yowza.

Hahahahaha, the couch story is always a winner. I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT HAPPENED.

[identity profile] smithereen.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
My sister named one of her cats Detox, and most of the time I'm the one who has to fetch her in to feed her, and I feel so weird every night standing on the porch yelling "Deeeeetox!" Hee. It makes me feel like a degenerate alcoholic. But... I guess at least she has a name?

Jonas is ADORABLE. I feel like it's less of an actual real show in the sense that Wizards of Waverly Place is a real television show. But it is so meta, and genuinely funny, and wacky/silly without being stupid, and actually pretty clever, and Nick is KIND OF A GOOD ACTOR, and there are monocles and colanders and actual home movies where Joe whines "KEVIIIIIN!" and tries to push Kevin out of the shot, and I love it. I'm so planning to stealthily spring it on people and force them to LOVE THESE KIDS.

LIFE!!!! I always waver on whether I ship Crews/Reese or whether I just want them to be PARTNERS! forever. But that finale pushed me over to the shippy side pretty hard. THE LOOOOOKS at the end, man. (And when Charlie did the throat thing... Yeah. I have A LOT of feelings about that.)

Also. Dwight/Andy? Y!!!! Michael/Pam? Um. ...Now you are asking A LITTLE TOO MUCH OF ME.

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha, Detox? That's kind of an adorable name for a cat, even though I can see how it's awkward for you, hee.

I feel like it's less of an actual real show in the sense that Wizards of Waverly Place is a real television show.

I kind of do too! I know what you mean -- it's so clearly already based on their personas, so it's more of a band vehicle than, like, a separate show. I guess it's more like The Monkees than anything, hee. But it was totally way enjoyable and clever like crazy! And I know, even though Nick's a little awkward sometimes, his sad faces were BREAKING MY HEART more than a little. DELIGHTFUL.

I totally go back and forth on my Crews/Reese shipping too -- sometimes I'm like, NO, they are like siblings and I like it that way, but then they brush hands and I'm like, OKAY, COOL, LET'S DO THIS. Man, their looks were CRAZY, they're so into each other. I think at some point I'm going to try to write some post-finale Crews/Reese just to see if I can.

Hahaha, but Michael & Pam are in a relationship! I just had some serious feelings when she had to talk him down and then when HE HAD TO TALK HER DOWN and he got all earnest and competent?? Yowza.

I was going to be like ME TOO!!!! about the open window thing increasing outside sounds but then I kept reading, and thankfully, the only amplified sounds I have heard are lawn mowers and baseball practice.

And JONAS!!!!! Everything about it was magnificent! (Remember when Frankie was eating an ice cream cone?!) Also, the civilians I watched it with also enjoyed!! The whole world is going to be suffering from Jonas Fever by the end of the summer (a much better illness than swine flu.)

To conclude, PAM/RYAN!!!!!!

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha. Well, luckily most of the time the sounds I hear are just, you know, my neighbors talking on the phone outside & lawn mowers &c. The sex thing was a first. A DISTURBING FIRST.

God, I can't even deal with how delightful Jonas was. It's nice to have civilians around to confirm objective awesomeness!
