Yuletiiiide!

You guys, I got THREE (3) full-length Ron/April Parks & Recreation fics for Yuletide! THREE AMAZING TROPE FICS JUST LIKE I ASKED FOR!! What Christmas miracle is this?? By far my most amazing yuletide ever, gift-wise, and SO UNEXPECTED, I was completely freaking out. ALSO, dear flist, I am giving all of you the side-eye, because my requests did not go out on the pinch hit list and I didn't link my letter in the Yuletide letter post until, like, the night before, SO. I KNOW TWO OF YOU AWESOME PEOPLE MUST BE THE CULPRITS. I HAVE HEARTS IN MY EYES FOR WHOEVER YOU ARE.

Man, I was even more excited too because I wanted Ron/April SO BADLY, the most out of all of my requests, and I thought that no one would ever want to write it because it's such a weird pairing, but apparently that pairing is a powderkeg just waiting to happen? Because ahaha, between me and [livejournal.com profile] tearupthesky, who both requested it, there are FOUR Ron/April stories in Yuletide, which is a full half of the Parks stories posted. You're welcome, fandom. You're welcome.

Anyway, you should go read them, they are so fantastic!

Howling From The Vaults: This is one where Ron and April rock FIVE cliches -- telepathy! bachelor auction! zombies! A Groundhogs Day AU that I wish was novel length, it's so amazing! Super hilarious and super in character and I am in loooooooooooove.

PLUS TWO BONUS FICS:

Working to Get Fired: Derek breaks up with April and Ron sees her crying and in revenge she signs him up to go to the Pawnee Mayor's Gala at $175 a ticket with two vegetarian kosher meals. He makes her go with him as her punishment. LOLS FOR DAYS. Fancy ball! Awesome and in character! I WISH THIS FIC WENT ON FOREVER.

She Thinks She's the Dispassionate One: That's right, I got not one, but TWO Government Ball fics!!! WHAT BRAVE NEW WORLD THAT HAS SUCH FANFICTION IN IT. The April voice in this one is fantastic, all detached and awesome, and there is sexy sexy sex and great Ron and it's just awesome all around.

(And if you're into Ron/April at all, you should also read the other one in yuletide, Ron and April and Zombies, which is just what it says on the tin and is SO FANTASTIC. Super in character and funny and let's face it, in a zombie apocalypse you would want Ron Swanson on your side. He and Dwight Schrute have got to be, like, the top two apocalypse-ready characters on television.)

And I hope everyone who celebrates it had a great Christmas -- I had a really amazing one with my family, even though I'm super exhausted now from all the stuff we did, haha. Rockstar!bro and his girlfriend were only here a day and a half, so that time was JAM-PACKED and I'm lucky I even managed to read these fics. I'm excited to finally be able to collapse and hit the rest of the archive!

'tis a Christmas miracle! Tho dude, I fell behind on P&R last season and it seems to maybe be THE WORST DECISION I EVER MADE?? Must catch up, stat!

Heee, you must! I don't even know what happened to me, I totally enjoyed it last season but wasn't obsessed with it or anything, but lately it's been my complete comfort show, I've been watching the second season over and over again. It got REALLY GOOD, though, especially towards the end of last season, I'm super psyched for it to come back.

If one were to theoretically go looking for good Ron/April episodes, what would they theoretically be?

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2010-12-27 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
94 Meetings is the main one! Also The Master Plan has a pretty great Ron/April moment (a-and an awesome deleted scene with the two of them). And I don't know when you stopped watching, but the episode where she becomes his assistant is The Setup, so that's a good one too. Haha, it's not a very obvious ship, though, so those are about it on that front, probably.

All can say is Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

IKR? I was so excited!!

OMG if only I could get the AO3 to load!

Ugh, I KNOW, the constant 502s have been driving me up a wall! How are we supposed to live like this??

I feel very strange about understanding this pairing.

[identity profile] annakovsky.livejournal.com 2010-12-28 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahahaha, y-yeah, I feel weird about myself for liking it so much. But very glad you're there with me! Haha it is actually sort of Liz/Jack-like, inasmuch as Ron Swanson is a combination of Dwight Schrute and Jack Donaghy and April is... a lady. Haha, I mean, his employee/semi-mentee.

Yeah, I can see what you mean, though I've only seen parts of P&R a handful of times. I can't remember seeing them interact, except for briefly, but I did get a sense of both their characters - I think this Alec Baldwin thing has tapped into an older man-mentor thing I didn't want to know I had? Anywayyyyy.

I'm gonna ignore the Dwight Schrute thing!

Hi this is completely random, but have you ever seen this 1998 movie Last Night? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0156729/ It's about a group of people in Toronto facing the end of the world, and it's got Sandra Oh, and it kind of made me think of you.

Happy 2011!

Oh man, I haven't seen that, but it sounds like something I would be WAY INTO! And I love Sandra Oh! Thanks for the headsup, I'm definitely going to have to Netflix that or something.

Happy 2011 for real, I'm so pleased you thought of me!

Cool, hope you enjoy it! (Funny - I watched it in a cinema so didn't realise it came out in 1998 until looking it up after... only semi-noticed all the slightly off clothes and heavy florals, but put it down to the setting being Toronto!)
