HELLO YOU GUYS, guess what, I wrote a yuletide fic and I'm going to link it now even though it's almost February and I am ridiculous:

Another Dime in the Jukebox for tearupthesky (LOLOL REMEMBER HOW SHE GOT ME TWO YEARS IN A ROW, I guess what goes around comes around?????) -- Jason Sudeikis/Kristen Wiig. Saturday Night Live RPF. PG-13, no warnings. 3000 words. Kristen didn’t tell him she was coming back for the Christmas show.

This was a terrible year to sign up for yuletide because I totally got a job and moved to Madison, Wisconsin in November, soooooo yeah, that is why I've been so MIA around here and also the rest of the internet for the last forever. Why do new jobs/apartments/friends take up so much energy?!?! It's pretty sweet, though, I am getting paid money and it's a pretty cool job and I am making friends and there's even a boy I like, which hasn't happened in forever. Basically:



(P.S. I am totally rewatching the Mary Tyler Moore show right now and it holds up DISTRESSINGLY WELL. Also I keep wanting to make, like, a vid juxtaposing Mary & Lou Grant with Liz Lemon & Jack Donaghy and Leslie Knope & Ron Swanson, because talk about direct descendants, especially Liz/Jack. Maybe someday [after retirement?] I will have the time to do this.)

Fannishly, I have 6000 words of a New Girl babyfic written (post that episode with the fertility nonsense), and like 1500 words of a Go On fic written, but who knows if I will ever finish anything ever again. (Is Anne from Go On the greatest character ever or what? Discuss.) Also I am having a lot of emotions about 30 Rock ending and I have the same Boom Guy feelings re: The Office as everybody else (SOMEONE IS WRITING FIC, RIGHT? The Office feelings in 2013 ARE UNSETTLING).

Today I started toying with the idea of resuscitating nothing_hip with once-a-month songs to try to get myself to finish something -- would anybody be in for this? (It's a fic challenge community where as a prompt I upload an awesome but not cool song, usually Top 40 pop kind of stuff, and then you write whatever you want. Will there be One Direction songs? PROBABLY.) LET'S DO IT, LJ RENAISSANCE AMIRITE.

SOMEONE IS WRITING FIC, RIGHT?

I've been joking a lot about MTT since Boom Guy happened, but honestly: If someone were to write a drabble-per-episode fic with Brian's perspective on things that have happened over the course of the series, I'd eat it up. Honestly, I'd be into ANYTHING about Boom Guy like it was 2006 and I didn't have fic standards yet ALL OVER AGAIN.

GO ON!!!!!!!! I think I'm about to gear up my WATCH THIS SHOW campaigning, probably just by screaming about all the characters, but also with episode uploads. Episode uploads always work, nobody can resist a right-click-save DL link.

OMG TRUE STORY, irishmizzy linked to that tumblr post where you guys were joking about that, and that thing you said about "doingthebestyoucan.just-once.net" where the categories would be Pam/Boom Guy and Other made me laugh for like an hour. THERE IS A VERY SPECIFIC AUDIENCE FOR THAT JOKE, OMG DYING. I would totally read that fic too, holy crap, IF HE WAS THERE FOR THE COAL-WALK AND THE HOUSE WITH A TERRACE AND THE SLOW SAD DECLINE OF PAM'S LIFE IN THE PAST FEW YEARS. God, I would totally be down for some kind of Boom Guy ficathon tbh. Haha insert getting the band back together montage here.

YOU TOTALLY SHOULD, it is such an amazing show! I am still not over how great last week's episode was. The only bad thing about it is how few episodes there are, I NEED LIKE FIVE SEASONS TO MARATHON RIGHT NOW instead of watching the same 13 episodes on some kind of constant pathetic 6 hour loop.

HEEE, oh man, I know right, why so enormous, western Canada?!?!?! My family's cottage is on Lake of the Woods, and so you'd think I'd be close to there since I am so much closer than Kentucky is, but it is still SUPER FAR AWAY. How far north does this place go?!?!?!?

And yes, a job, so startling!! It is kind of random -- I decided I didn't want to be an academic anymore, and then I basically fell into this weirdly awesome job at a software company? I am liking it so far, but it is a sharp right turn that my life has taken! But it is a really awesomely nerdy, young company that hires a lot of people, so there was a whole class of incoming hires which is good for making friends and stuff, hooray!

UGHHHHHHH WHY IS FINISHING THINGS THE WORST, can I hire someone to go through my google docs and take all the skeleton fics and turn them into real stories? I JUST HAVE A LOT OF THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS BUT CONNECTING THEM IS HARD.

SERIOUSLY, YOU WOULD NOT THINK IT WOULD BE SO IMPOSSIBLE TO FINISH A STORY, we used to do it all the time! I feel like everything I start writing wants to end up being 400,000 words, it's terrible, Easy Academy has ruined me.

(Like, I got a trope bingo card, and one was cross-dressing, and I was like, hmm, I'm not really into that... unless it was like, a story where Jess from New Girl dresses up like a boy to sneak into a boy's boarding school like in She's the Man, and Nick and Winston and Schmidt could be her roommates, AND THEN.... and in like five seconds it was becoming a novel-length fic in my head. NOT THE INTENT OF A BINGO CARD, SELF.)

I would! I have been awful about finishing stories the last few years, and then every Yuletide I remember how much I enjoy actually finishing things and promise myself I'll finish more stories . . . and then I totally don't, because I stink, but this year I MEAN IT! Maybe.

And I am really struggling with the end of 30 Rock, like, I really kind of believe there will never be another show that makes me laugh that much and turns out to be as truly emotionally satisfying, particularly all the Liz stuff over the last couple of years, from this moment forward.

I know, right! It all happened really fast, I feel like I told you I was interviewing and then got the job like that week and was moving three weeks later and my whole life picked up crazy speed. EARNING MONEY IS THE MOST AMAZING, I am still shocked at it, like I want to get my paycheck all in $1 bills and roll around in it. Health insurance! A 401(k) like a grownup! Ten years of poverty has made me way more money-grubbing than I used to be!
